Getting Ready for Camp
The following applies to Solid Rock, Girls and Boys Camps:
Don’t forget to email, mail or bring up a copy of your insurance card.
What To Bring:
Bible, Pens/Pencils, Notebook, Fan, Swim suit (one piece for girls, baggy style for boys), Underwear, Pajamas, Shorts, Shirts, Socks, Jeans, Light Jacket, Sweatshirt, Flashlight/extra batteries, Sleeping Bag and sheet, or Sheets and Blanket, Pillow, Towels and Washcloths. Toothpaste and Brush, Comb/brush, 2 pair of shoes, “flip-flops”, Rain Gear, Insect Repellant, Shampoo, Soap, Sunscreen, and Laundry Bag. Bring a copy of insurance Card to Camp, mail it, or email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
What Not To Bring:
Cell phone*, Bikes, Radios/CD players/MP3 Players, Comic Books, Playing Cards, Knives, Guns, Other Weapons, Cigarettes, Drugs, Alcohol, Fireworks, Pornography, Refrigerators, Gum, and Skateboards. This is not an exhaustive list. Please use good judgment. If there is doubt that you should bring it to Camp, please do not pack it.
*Cell phones will be collected from each camper the first day of camp, and returned to them on the last day. This will be strictly enforced. It is better to leave cell phones at home.
Please pack school appropriate clothes that you don’t mind if it gets dirty.
~Girls’ attire is required to promote modesty and be free of questionable sayings/logos/images. Halter-tops and strapless tops will not be allowed. Shoulder straps on tank tops must be at least two-finger-width wide. Any tops that reveal undergarments (or lack thereof) are not allowed. Shorts must longer than thumb length when arms are at sides. Swimsuits should be one-piece or “Tankini”style (having the top meet the bottom). Campers whose attire does not meet these standards will be asked to change.
~Boys’ attire must be school appropriate and free of questionable sayings/logos/images. Boxers or other undergarments should not be visible. Swimsuits need to be “board-short” style. Campers whose attire does not meet these standards will be asked to change.
Due to the variety/varying degrees of food allergies and dietary preferences our kitchen in not able to accommodate everyone. If your camper requires a special diet we ask that you supplement our menu with easy-prep food that is knowingly safe for them to eat. We have found that sending food items in a Rubbermaid container labeled with their name works best. We have a microwave and a small amount of refrigerator space available for them to use. For questions or concerns concerning food allergies, dietary needs, menu, etc., please contact Bob Deyo, Food Service Manager, at least two weeks before your campers scheduled program at: 262-692-2388.
First Day Arrival Time and Last Day Pick Up Time: Own Transportation
*First Day of Solid Rock on June 24, Girls Camp Week 1 on Sunday July 8 and Boys Camp Week 1 on Sunday, July 22: Arrive at Camp Awana between 10:00-11:30 a.m.
*First Day of Girls Camp Week 2 on Saturday July 14 and Boys Camp Week 2 on Saturday, July 28: Arrive at Camp Awana between 2:00-3:30 p.m.
Follow the main road into camp (go past the barn) and keep right when the road splits. Registration is being conducted in the Mess Hall. The Mess Hall is just beyond the playground on the right. Please use the “Pueblo” entrance. Come inside to drop off your medicine, deposit canteen money, pay any remaining balance, verify that we have all your medical information, and get your cabin assignment.
Once you get your cabin assignment, please head to your cabin to settle in and meet your leader and cabin-mates for the week.
Last Day Pick Up Time: Please pick up your camper by 9:00 a.m. All campers must be signed out from Camp at the Mess Hall. All medications and remaining Canteen money will be returned to parents at this time.
Transportation Provided by Camp Awana for Solid Rock, Girls and Boys Camps:
Transportation is limited and sign up is on a first come first serve basis. Please notify Camp if your transportation needs change. $50 Round Trip or $30 one way, non-refundable fee paid at the time of registration.
*Departs from the North Side Gospel Center* to Camp Awana at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 24 for Solid Rock, Sunday, July 8 for Girls Camp Week 1 and Sunday, July 22 for Boys Camp Week 1.

Campers love getting mail from home! You can mail a letter early so it is received early in the week. Parents often send care packages filled with snacks and other goodies. Please be aware that storing food in their cabins attracts mice, ants, and other unwanted critters. If sending food to campers, please send it in a resealable container. Also, please keep in mind that the Canteen is open daily. Please no gum.

If you some reason you to need to reach us/ your child call 262.692.2388 .We answer this line 24hr/day. Please reserve the late night/ early morning hours for emergencies only. Also note that your child may not be readily available to take your call as he/she is out on the grounds and not in the office. We will do our best to make sure your call is returned promptly.
All medication (prescription/over the counter) is required to be handed into and kept by our nurse. Please send all necessary medicines clearly labeled with campers name in a Ziploc bag. Epi-pens, inhalers and other rescue devices will be held by the camper (or his/her leader).
Over the counter medications needs to be in the original packaging. This includes vitamins and supplements. Blister packaging is preferred, but not required. Please note the dose and times usually taken. Prescription medication needs to be in the bottle from the pharmacy with the patient label. No pills that are loose in a pill box or hand labeled container can be given. Please check all expiration dates. Out of date medication cannot be given.
Please note that you are responsible to know and pay the remaining balance for your registration. Full payment needs to be received on or before your camper’s first session, unless you are on the payment plan. Please check your online account for your balance. Visiting Your Camper during Boys and Girls Camp:
If your child will be a camper for two or more weeks, we ask that you visit your child on Saturdays, as early as 10:00 AM and returning them to flag lowering by 5:15 PM. Campers will only be allowed to leave campgrounds with adults pre-designated by their parents/guardians. The following dates will be for parents to visit campers: July 14 for Girls Camp and July 28 for Boys Camp.
Out of consideration to the many people and camp dogs on the grounds, Camp does not accommodate visiting pets; please leave them at home.
