Location

Camp Awana is located about 35 miles north of Milwaukee at 9025 Camp Awana Road, Fredonia, Wisconsin 53021. Nearby towns include Port Washington, Saukville, Kewaskum, and West Bend.

Variety of Groups

Camp Awana was founded in 1946 and over the years many groups have used the grounds for a retreat, including church youth groups, college ministries, men’s and women’s ministries, church and para-church leadership teams, family ministries, Boy and Girl Scout Troops, athletic teams, school outdoor education programs, and community organizations.

Housing

We can house groups up to 290 people.

A Lodge consists of a group of individual cabins. We have 4 main lodges for retreats. Each cabin is heated and has 5 bunk beds to house 10 people.  There are no bathrooms inside the cabins.

*Keneu Lodge – 6 Cabins. Designated bathroom for this Lodge is called the Keneu Bathroom and it has two separate sides.

*Gitchee Gumee Lodge – 6 Cabins. Designated bathroom for this Lodge is called the Gitchee Gumee Bathroom and it has two separate sides.

*Shawandassee Lodge – 6 Cabins. Designated bathroom for this Lodge is called the Main Bathroom and it has two separate sides. It is located a little bit farther away from the cabins, so portable toilets are also located in the Lodge.

*Mishemokwa Lodge – 5 Cabins. Designated bathroom for this Lodge is called the Main Bathroom and it has two separate sides. It is located a little bit farther away from the cabins, so portable toilets are also located in the Lodge.

*We have limited housing with bathrooms inside. Requests for this housing can be made.

Buildings

*Meeting Spaces – Sound equipment and projectors are available to rent.

1) Long House – Auditorium which holds over 300 people and includes a stage and two large screens. No bathrooms inside.

2) Upper Room of Rec Center – Holds up to 110 people and includes a large screen. Bathrooms inside.

3) Canteen – Holds up to 50 people and includes a screen and a fireplace. Bathrooms inside.

4) Apache Bible House – Holds up to 50 people and includes a screen and a fireplace. No bathrooms inside.

5) Iroquois Bible House – Holds up to 50 people and includes a screen and a fireplace. No bathrooms inside.

6) Keneu Bible House – Holds up to 50 people and includes a screen and a fireplace. No bathrooms inside.

*Mess Hall – Large dining hall which holds up to 320 people and includes a fireplace and board games for group use. Meals are served family style. Food allergies should be brought to the attention of the Camp Director at least one week prior to retreat.

*Rec Center – Full size high school regulation gymnasium which can be split in half for multiple games. Groups enjoy basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, dodgeball, scooter races, and a wide variety of other games. Sports equipment is available for group use.

*Canteen – Snack shop usually open on Saturday afternoons during a weekend retreat. Snacks, Camp Gear and Toiletries are available for purchase. Soda machines are also accessible 24/7 in the Canteen. Fireplace is located in the Canteen.

*Game Room – Includes ping pong, air hockey, foosball and board games.

*If it’s warm enough for swimming, we have a Blob, Water Trampoline, Slide, and Diving Board. We have a number of boats available for use: 4 paddle boats, 12 kayaks, 4 canoes, 3 row boats, 1 aqua cycle, and 1 pontoon boat. We also have fishing equipment available. Anybody 16 years old and older requires a Wisconsin Fishing License.

Winter Activities

Tubing, Tobogganning, Broomball and Ice Skating are also available to use at night. We have a tow rope for our tubing hill. Ride the tube down and ride it back up the hill.

Friday

Evening Snack: Hot Dogs, Fries, Brownie, Juice

Saturday

Breakfast: Pancakes, Sausage, Oatmeal, Milk, Juice

Lunch: Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, Rolls, Gravy, Oranges, Ice Cream Bar, Juice, Water

Dinner: Pasta Noodles, Meat Sauce, Focaccia Bread, Salad, Dressing, Cake or Cookie Bar, Juice, Water

Evening Snack: Pizza and Juice

Sunday

Breakfast: Eggs with Bacon inside, Toast, Creme of Wheat, Juice, Milk

Lunch: Roast Beef, Roasted Potatoes, Corn, Rolls, Gravy, Peaches and Pears, Juice, Water, Cookies

What To Bring (General List to Get You Started):

Pillow, sheets (twin size mattress), sleeping bag or blanket, winter coat, gloves, hat, snow boots, warm clothes, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, towels, deodorant, Bible, pen, notebook, flashlight, gym shoes for the gym, and spending money for the canteen.

 2016-2017 Current Group Rates

Typical Weekend Retreat of Friday evening snack through Sunday lunch or any 2 nights/3 days retreat includes housing, 2 evening snacks, 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 1 dinner, activities listed above, and a group meeting space.

*May 1, 2017 – November 30, 2017 = $92/person

*December 1, 2017 – April 30, 2018 = $97/person

*May 1, 2018 – November 30, 2018 = $94/person

Overnight retreat of evening snack through following day lunch = $60/person. Includes housing, 1 evening snack, 1 breakfast, and 1 lunch, activities listed above, and a group meeting space.

Groups can also come for a day, an extended weekend, 5 days, 1 week, etc. Many options are available.
